Who will be able to forget all the suffering that began on October 7th and grew to unbearable
before New Year’s Eve, yet continued while the world watched? Who does not know a genocidal
war is now devastating Gaza and its people—this alien disease now making a sick world sicker?
It would be best to remain an optimist—a believer in humanity’s inherent goodness—
to believe in recovery and healing.
Charles Dickens wrote about mid-nineteenth century France and England, “It was the best
of times; it was the worst of times…” If he were alive today and witnessing the inhuman slaughter
of Palestinians on the orders of a Zionist government while there are ruling elites, politicians,
corporations cashing in their bets, what would he say now? If he knew of the wars to genocides
that have taken place since he picked up a pen, as well as seeing spoiled billionaires toy around
in space for pleasure, would it help him digest what is going on with members of our species?
Apparently, by earthbound devious designs, some of us are made not human enough; see
here the tops of our hairless ape hierarchies—the males that can spit out justifications
for doing anything. What it takes to reach the top?
If Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7th justifies the slaughtering of Palestinians for
complete
theft of their land, what are Palestinians justified in doing? What are U.S. indigenous as
well
as black citizens now justified in doing after their ancestors were born and died for
generations
in their open-air prisons? I shudder to think. Are you surprised at the number of Native
Americans
and African Americans that are stuck in reservations and ghettos today? Tell me legacies
of
white privilege and black rage are not transparent now.
Today’s technologically and feigned morally superior oppressors of Palestinians have
the
massive MAD “chutzpah” to announce their genocidal actions in Gaza as “mowing the grass.”
Walt Whitman, are you rolling over in your grave, covering your first edition of “Leaves of
Grass”? Allen Ginsberg, are you reciting “Moloch” without restraint where your spirit is collecting
itself? Will you both meet up with Lorca at a “Supermarket in California” two seconds before
doomsday midnight? Will you howl! And give your collective finger to all the big-top criminals
and collaborators? Let me pause: sometimes, without a laugh, the game is truly over.
That people in historical Palestine and Israel, against the odds, continue to hold onto their,
humanity after decades of brutal militarized abuse, sometimes, leaves me speechless. Speechless
a metaphor for awestruck, admiring silence. As for being in the world, the voices of this boundless
humanity are exponentially increasing, with an even greater global range.
We know the faces of the world’s global death cults, yes? We can see with our own eyes
their
hideous degeneration and decomposition on screens everywhere. Like never before, the
light of humanity is exposing the greatest destroyers of our earth, and this should help vindicate
the oppressed. Believe this! Those who continue to grow their bank accounts and take sadistic
pleasure in what is happening to Palestinians could never believe in any God greater than
the one they construct in their mirrors, but mirrors never lie. Palestinians, I hope you strengthen
knowing that though your mirrors may be shattered as you travel, you continue your
journey
with brave human faces, while your sick racist oppressors looking in their polished
mirrors,
no matter how gilded, will find grotesque monsters and flaming Holocaust deniers.
God
knows what the faces of their children will look like…one can only hope they become
authentic redeemers.
Peace,
Andrés
