In a Bottle or a Teacup Today?

 

 

Asked about his fighting philosophy,

     Bruce Lee said flow like water—change

           accordingly. “Be water, my friend.”

I tried to know the containers—

      even the incredible contours

           of convolutions named bowels;

how many know the true shape

     of their own entrails—or would want to

          know, even if they had the means?

I never dreamed your kicks

     and punches would end at such a young age

          or me old and trapped in a wet paper bag.
